At present, China is accelerating the deployment of key fields such as deep-sea scientific research, marine energy, and ocean engineering infrastructure. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, deep-sea projects will enter a new stage of large-scale development. As core pain points, anti-seepage of concrete structures and seawater corrosion protection impose stringent requirements on materials.
To tackle material protection challenges in extreme deep-sea environments and promote the full-domain application of waterproof and water-retaining technologies in the ocean, Xi’an Maenam Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Maenam High-Tech) officially announced the establishment of the Maenam Deep Sea Shield Waterproof Deep-Sea Research Group.
The research group will focus on core technical directions including deep-sea high-pressure sealing, long-term anti-corrosion, and compression-resistant water retention. It will continuously iterate and develop new material systems adaptable to complex deep-sea conditions, and build a solid protection foundation for China’s marine engineering, deep-sea development, and emerging marine industries with independently controllable technical strength.
Relying on three independent core technologies—micro-nano physical coating, gradient cross-linking anti-seepage, and active water retention—combined with technological accumulation in terrestrial waterproofing and deep-space water retention, Maenam High-Tech has intensively developed new special waterproof and water-retaining materials for the deep sea. These materials target pain points of deep-sea concrete structures such as leakage, corrosion, low-temperature embrittlement, and high-pressure failure, forming a dual "structure + protection" system with deep-sea concrete. Their performance has been continuously verified through third-party testing and real-sea trials.

Micro-Nano Coating Technology: The core material forms a dense protective layer upon contact with water, fitting tightly to surfaces to block the penetration of seawater and chloride ions, preventing steel bar corrosion in concrete structures. It establishes a dual system of structural self-waterproofing plus surface protection, and has currently achieved a high anti-seepage grade of P20 with stable impermeability at a water depth of 200 meters.
Gradient Cross-Linking Sealing Technology: It withstands an ultra-high pressure of 76.9MPa and tightens further under compression, suitable for key components such as deep-sea concrete sealed cabins and pipeline interfaces. It operates stably within a wide temperature range of -50℃ to 250℃, solving industry pain points of low-temperature embrittlement and high-pressure leakage in traditional materials, especially for self-waterproofing and sealing of concrete structures in extreme deep-sea temperature and pressure environments.
Active Water-Blocking Technology: It achieves in-situ water blocking and pressure retention, synergizing with deep-sea concrete to maintain internal humidity and pressure balance, preventing concrete cracking from water seepage and damage from pressure imbalance. It also enhances concrete’s erosion resistance, and combined with the performance advantages of low-carbon high-corrosion-resistance marine concrete, further extends the service life of structures.
Relying on mature technologies and product reserves, Maenam High-Tech’s new waterproof and water-retaining materials continue to provide core material support for fields including deep-sea scientific research, energy development, marine infrastructure, and mineral exploration, with broad application prospects extendable to numerous emerging marine practical scenarios.

In the future, we will continue to deepen technological R&D with the core goal of "breaking through kilometer-level deep-sea protection", continuously iterate and upgrade product performance, further enhance anti-seepage, compression resistance, extreme temperature-pressure resistance and corrosion resistance, and break through protection technical bottlenecks in deeper seas.
By then, our products will adapt to broader application fields in kilometer-level deep seas, unlock new possibilities for deep-blue engineering, provide more reliable, efficient and comprehensive material support for China’s deeper and wider deep-sea exploration and development, help elevate China’s marine power strategy to a new height, and jointly draw a new blueprint for deep-sea industrial development.
