Maenam Hi-Tech│A New Chapter of Desert Agriculture Co-operation with Tunisia's Ministry of Agriculture

At the technical exchange meeting, Fan Baiyun systematically introduced the R&D background and core technology advantages of Maenam Hi-Tech's new water retention materials. The technology has been applied on a large scale in Northwest China: in typical ecologically fragile areas such as the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang, the Hexi Corridor in Gansu, and the Kubuqi Desert in Inner Mongolia, the cumulative total area of desert treatment has exceeded 5,000 square kilometres; and in the ‘photovoltaic+sand control’projects innovatively carried out in the Maowusu Desert in Yulin, Shaanxi, and the Tengger Desert in Ningxia, the ‘Chinese solution’is provided for the global desertification control through the model of pastoral light, agricultural light, and forest light complementarity. The ‘PV+Sand Control’project has provided a ‘Chinese programme’for global desertification control. As an active practitioner of the ‘Belt and Road’ecological cooperation, Maenam Hi-Tech has built an international business network covering the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia and other regions. At present, the company's technical solutions have attracted government delegations, scientific research institutions and enterprises from more than 40 countries to visit and exchange ideas, forming a diversified cooperation model covering technology export, engineering contracting and joint research and development.

The person in charge of the Plant Health Management Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture of Tunisia highly acknowledged the technical achievements of Maenam Hi-Tech, pointing out that the material has significant advantages in enhancing the water retention capacity of the soil and promoting the drought-resistant growth of the crops, which is especially suitable for the cultivation of wheat and olive in the arid areas of the southern part of Tunisia. The two sides reached a preliminary consensus on the direction of cooperation, such as conducting field trials and training agricultural technicians. Fan Baiyun said, ‘We are willing to help Tunisia build a sustainable development chain of “ecological restoration-agricultural efficiency enhancement-energy transformation”through technology transfer and the construction of demonstration bases, and provide replicable solutions for addressing climate change in North Africa.’
