PV-Powered Desert Control refers to the use of solar photovoltaic power generation technology to build photovoltaic power stations in deserts, gobi and other areas. Vegetation, greening and crop cultivation can be carried out under the photovoltaic panels to realize the management and improvement of desertified land. It is a new type of ecological restoration method with the characteristics of environmental protection, economy and sustainability.

At present, China is actively promoting PV-Powered Desert Control work to address the increasingly serious desertification problem. For example, the General Department of the National Energy Administration and the General Office of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration jointly issued the "Notice on Matters Concerning the Orderly Advancement of the Development and Construction of PV-Powered Desert Control Projects", requiring all regions to formulate implementation plans for PV-Powered Desert Control, clarify the spatial layout, desert control methods and ecological requirements for the construction of PV-Powered Desert Control projects, and realize the parallel advancement of PV power generation and ecological governance, as well as the mutual complementarity of the "blue ocean" (new development opportunities) and oases.
